Pottery experience in Bizen

Bizen is famous as a pottery place of unglazed stoneware called ‘Yakishime’.
Your works will be fired in a traditional way of using straws, and the trace of the straws sometimes remains as reddish fire mark. We call this ‘Hidasuki’, and regard as one of the characteristics of Bizen ware.
This program is good for the beginners, and also as a group activity, for the pottery studio has a large capacity.

Tour price per 1 person: 2,625JPY
The price includes:
 - Pottery instruction, facility/tools use, *materials(0.5kg of clay), firing fee, tax
 *You can make 2 tea cups, a set of coffee cup and saucer, or a tea bowl out of 0.5kg clay.
The price does NOT include:
 - Transportation fee to/from the facility, meals, packing service, delivery service, etc.
Pottery facility you use: Bishu gama at Bizen city in Okayama prefecture
Tour date: Everyday
 - There may be some cases we cannot provide this program due to an irregular occasion of the facility.
Available time: 9:00 – 15:00
Time required: apprx.1 – 1.5hours
Minimum participants: 2 persons

Booking limit: 1 week prior to the tour date
Payment limit: Full payment must be completed 1 week before the tour date.

Cancellation fee (Based on Japan time):
 - 7 days to 2 days prior to the tour date: 30% of the tour price
 - 1 day prior to the tour date: 50% of the tour price
 - Cancellation on the tour date: 100% of the tour price (No refunds)

Firing and shipping:
 - The pottery you make will be dried, trimmed, and fired in 3 to 5 months. When completed, they will be shipped. Please pay the packing and the delivery fee by cash when you register the shipping.
 - Due to the pottery characteristics, it may be cracked or broken without anyone’s fail. In the event of your item crack, we will ship the cracked pieces or a similar item made by the pottery studio instead.

English: The instructor at the pottery studio will help you in English.
