In general, “Pottery made in Kyoto” collectively means Kyo ware/Kiyomizu ware. There are no specific characteristics such as the form or the color that specify them as Kyo ware/Kiyomizu ware. However, the fact “Made in Kyoto” creates value itself. They have both “Pottery” and “Porcelain”, most of which have over-glaze paint.

The pots were made-to-order for tea masters and court nobles, and even today, they don’t produce in bulk or rely on mechanization. Therefore, each and every works of the potter and pottery studio are unique in its own way, which is one of the characteristics of Kyo ware/Kiyomizu ware.
